It is always fun to watch our FCA MD Boys Lacrosse Alumni at their various colleges and to see their successes on and off of the field. However, it is extremely exciting when you get the chance to watch an FCA MD Boys Lacrosse Alum at the 2018 FIL Men's World's Championships this summer! We are proud to share that Matt Popeck (FCA MD Boys Lacrosse '17) will be playing for Team Israel on the Host Country's Men's National team.
Matt, a defensemen/LSM at Saint Joseph's, earned 1 of 4 exempt spots in Israel's world roster Israel after going through a 5-week tryout process beating out 100 other college upper classmen and graduates. During which he played multiple positions including defense, LSM, and middie playing against Hopkins, Towson, Albany, Iroquois and Team USA.
To make this experience even more exciting, Matt has taken on the role of a Player-Coach for Israel's U-19 Men's Team. Which he will serve with as they travel throughout Europe playing games until May. From that point on he will prepare for the FIL World Games on July 6-July 20, 2018.
As a part of our FCA Lacrosse Family, we ask that you would keep Matt and the Popeck family in your prayers for safety, encouragement, and financial support. Please prayerfully consider supporting Matt Popeck on his adventure with Team Israel by going to his gofundme.com/mattlacrosse.
